Led by the exhibition designers of Pratchaya Phinthong: No Patents on Ideas—Rin and Field of SP/N (Spin Design Studio)—this talk and exhibition walkthrough will provide access into the show through a different lens. This programme will provide insight beyond the artworks that are in the gallery to focus on the space itself and consider how its design influences the way we encounter and experience it and the artworks. While traversing concepts of porosity, proximity, negative space, boundaries, and more, Rin and Field will discuss the main pillars of their design practice and how they have manifested in various projects, particularly in relation to No Patents on Ideas and past collaborations with other artists. The session will end off with a brief exhibition walkthrough to allow audiences to view and experience what was shared earlier in-situ, as well as a short Q&A.
This workshop is free for all participants. We request a refundable deposit of $8 to book a slot. The deposit will be returned upon attendance of the event. There will be no refund in the case of a no-show.
About SP/N (Spin Design Studio)
SP/N (Spin Design Studio) is an interdisciplinary architecture and design practice exploring the intersection of space, perception, and movement. We see architecture not as a static form but as an evolving dialogue—between space, users, and context. Through subtle geometric manipulations, material transitions, and spatial compositions, we create environments that shape the way people navigate, interpret, and engage with the built world.
Our work spans architecture, exhibition design, and spatial research, with a focus on legibility and interaction. From reimagining public spaces as flexible, participatory environments to crafting immersive installations that challenge conventional spatial boundaries, our approach is rooted in experimentation and precision. Each project is an exploration of scalar relationships—how the dimensions and materiality of space influence perception and experience.
By blurring the lines between architecture, art, and human interaction, SP/N positions space as an active participant in shaping experiences rather than a passive backdrop. Our goal is to craft environments that not only function but also invite discovery, movement, and engagement.
