As part of their residencies at SAM, artists Aki Hassan and Sherie Sitauze opened their studios to the public, to come and exist with them while they speculate and interrogate themes they are currently concerned with. Aki is exploring thoughts around queerly gestures & intimacy and imagining the ‘ripple’ as a potential method of <gathering, communing, meeting, reaching out> and expanding trans/queer networks.
Sherie asked the public questions in relation to her speculative research which is primarily rooted in, and influenced by displacement in its broadest sense; from geographical, to emotional, to ancestral and seeks to consider how it intersects with erased narratives and histories.
