Materials inherently contain energies that enable them to perform the role of translators and transmitters. In this session, Chok Si Xuan shared her ongoing investigations into the material properties that make up our contemporary technological devices. 

Si Xuan was joined by SAM curator Duncan Bass as they discuss a range of texts that explore notions of techno-orientalism and cybernetics, to reveal an incredible array of intersections between our everyday interactions with digital systems and the energy transfers that happen between the body and the device itself.
