Residency Thursdays is series of sharing sessions by current SAM Residents. Curatorial & Research Resident, Moad Musbahi presented on some of his curatorial projects and offshoot initiatives over the past years. The conversation reflected on the potential impact curatorial work can have beyond the gallery space; in how artistic practices can occupy other institutional formations – from the spiritual to the pedagogic – and on how they can be mobilised in the absence of mature networks of cultural circulation. Moad used past work as examples and prompts to open up some of these ideas over the duration of the residency, from the first edition of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial that launched in 2019 to the ongoing project with the Harun Farocki Institut, a roaming exhibition on the relation between pedagogy, migration and media archives across Alexandria, Beirut, Berlin, Dakar and Tunis.
