Emerging from Sikarnt’s ongoing research into the traces of colonial experiences in Singapore through the study of horticulture and migration of botanies to and from the island, Sikarnt will, through a performance, reimagine the making of the British botanicult horror film “Maneater of Pulau Ujong” (c. 2002) that is set against the backdrop of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Sikarnt asks those who plan to attend, if it is possible to consider the spectre of history and trauma that haunt the botanical landscape through the imagination of miracles and mundane events? The performance will be followed by an informal conversation with the artist.
