Community & Education Residency || 01 Jan to 30 Jan 2022
Barbara Cueto is a curator and researcher interested in the intersection of activism, new technologies and contemporary art. She is especially interested in how decentralised technologies are prompting social constructions that compose new political and economic infrastructures and how artistic are rehearsing them, giving us a glimpse into a world post-crisis. While in residence, Cueto would like to develop her proposal, 'White Papers on Dissent', a curatorial project within her PhD in artistic research. It explores the development of new political imaginaries using blockchain, and the role of artists and cultural practitioners leading this process. She would like to engage with local artists, communities and activists using participatory events to think through blockchain technology as a tool for radical imagination to empower a community in their quest for emancipation.
This residency was supported by a grant from Acción Cultural Española (AC/E).
