Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka (MMCA Sri Lanka) is an education-led initiative that aims to establish a public museum dedicated to the display, research, collection and conservation of modern and contemporary art for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public, schools and tourists. Established in 2019, MMCA Sri Lanka is a museum in the making, currently exhibiting its second exhibition titled ‘Encounters’ and will open its third and fourth exhibitions in 2023.
While in residence the MMCA Sri Lanka, will focus on understanding current backend museum practices and exhibition-making strategies in Singapore. They will also look further at the future institutional and pedagogical trajectories of the Singaporean museum landscape and the learnings that a museum in the making from Sri Lanka can absorb from it.
