Nilanjan DAS

Artist Residency || 01 Oct to 31 Dec 2023

Nilanjan Das works primarily with printmaking to consider the role of printmaking within the public domain. His long-term project explores gendered interaction and intimacy; tracing the intricate systems of surveillance and control that either permit or restrict specific gendered interactions and other typologies of behaviour in public spaces.

While in residence, Nilanjan intends to further his long-term research on public spaces, specifically in the context of Southeast Asia. Through conducting interviews, Nilanjan will meticulously develop case studies to gain a deeper understanding of how power dynamics shape and negotiate gender interaction and intimacy within public spaces.
