Join us for a sneak peek of the Singapore Biennale 2019 with artist Dennis Tan as he shares his thought, craft, and precision that goes into making a kolek, which will be presented at the Biennale exhibition. This talk will be moderated by Biennale curator John Tung.

About the artist
Dennis Tan (b. 1975, Singapore) graduated with a Diploma in Painting, Bachelor in Environmental Design, and a Master in Architecture. Describing his approach in his practice of boat building as ‘building-without-a-plan’, Tan’s practice grounds itself in the sensibilities of the common man–engaging the subject with naive curiosity. He has exhibited in Singapore, Australia, and Korea. He is the founder of HAROU, the atelier for his ongoing artistic and architectural endeavours.

*How to get to the National Sailing Centre (NCS):

Address: 1500 East Coast Parkway, Singapore 468963

By public transport: take bus no. 36 and alight at bus stop no. 94099, after E.C. Sea Sports Club. Then take a 20-minute walk to the NCS.

By car: the Nearest public car park is at East Coast Park Car Park G (4-minute walk to the NCS).

A shuttle bus service by the Singapore Sailing Federation runs from Bedok MRT Station Exit A to the NSC at 8.40am, and from the NSC to Bedok MRT Station at 6.15pm.
